Shaun Goodrich Las Vegas Photography 101d Ring Light
In this segment I would like to show you how I shoot with a ring light. For those of you that do not know what a ring light is? It’s a circular light that fits around the lens on a camera. It was originally designed for dentistry because it does not create shadows like a traditional flash. I like using a ring flash outdoors and for fashion and portrait photography because it produces a nice halo and works as a great fill that does not produce shadows. It produces a clean look. I had the pleasure of shooting Lauren Bennett of the Pussy Cat Dolls with one in LA. She’s a really great model. The weather was over cast and this is the result I came up with. In the main image, I shot her to the right about 4 to 6 feet away on 3/4 power with a Alien Bee 800 ring light. It shot with a Canon 7D at 1/200 sec F/5.0 100 iso.
